A Poem about St Lawrence School, by Rhys in Year 6

St Lawrence School

A green shamrock of years of joy

Its many emerald petals opening gaps in the void of life,

Opportunities spring out like hares through the field.

New options soar overhead flying through the open air.

Lewis is a leopard pouncing on the brave and fearless.

Its amethyst might charge all who are devoted.

Its royal purple distinguishing unwavering strength to all who tread in its path.

Rocko is a soaring owl scouring the classes for members.

Its eager eyes finding the clever and devoted.

Its blood red showing that they will fight to the end to do their house proud.

Seymour is a dolphin splashing and seeking for those who are kind and creative and show determination to do their team proud.

Its azure hue showing the bubbly joy of Seymour that can only be found in the heart,

Kempt is a tree-scaling gecko scampering and striving for all who are compassionate and smart and true of heart.

Its leafy green showing that all are connected to nature,

Facts and figures spin like tornadoes carving a path to our brains.

Eradicating all daydreams and trances

Destroying all video game and unicorn-based thoughts alike

Mr Fancourt a remarkable football specialist

Training us to harness the power of backing soda to make volcanos.

How victorious Vikings came about.

Mrs Bugbird a true master of medics

Never dosing off on a trip to Crabbe

Caring and kind to everyone who needs it and a helping hand to us all.

Mrs Mc Cartney a powerful poet and a massive assistance

Seeing us through our undesirable sats

And our grave grammar mistakes.

Mrs Wildespin a French fanatic

Showing science and telling tales

A music magician and a remarkable recorder player

And finally, Mr Charlesworth

an emperor in education

And a brilliant charisma for clubs

None would be here for not for him.

These are some of the inspiring educators in this amazing school.

I could go on forever.

But let’s be honest we don’t want me taking up all the time.

So just one more verse,

St Lawrence

The gates a symbol of strength on our ties

The wet tears that trickle down our eyes

As we leave this page and start a new one in the book of life
